About Wendy
I am a petite lady (with growing waistline due to all the baking, ooops! got to look out!) residing in Singapore. This website is to record the journey of my passion that creates the joy, the satisfaction and not forgetting the exhaustion! I am not good at writing, just trying my best to leave down some foot prints, so please bear with my not-so-good language skills. :p
In fact, my interest in baking started since I was as young as about 10 years old. I could still recall there was once I made a little cup of thick chocolate drink, placed a little scoop of it (using milk powder scoop, must have gotten this from my sis's milk powder then) under a small flame, hoping that it will turn into a chocolate cake, but as what you might have guess, it had never turned out to be one. I was lucky I did not set the house ablazed. Haha... How naive I am.
As my family was not well to do, we could not afford any lavish electronic goods like a microwave oven or an oven, so I never had a chance to try out the recipes that aroused my interest and made me drooled. Having said that, if it is not my parents' thriftiness that taught us the importance of savings, my sisters and I would not have been what we are today. Thank you, Papa & Mummy!
The real start of my baking expedition only began after my first baking of pizza for my family's dinner on 13/08/11. Initially I was thinking of having fun with Ning to make pizza dough ourselves, however time doesn't allow and eventually I just got the pita bread from supermarket. Though it was not a real bake, Ning (my darling) enjoyed the process of decorating her own pizza with ingredients which finally came out from the oven looking not too bad. : )
Ning loves dessert, just like her daddy, both with sweet tooth. In order to reduce the junk within a dessert from her intake, I decided to make healthy dessert for her. Feng, don't get jealous if you ever read this. This is for you too, my darling.
From here, I started searching online for recipes and try out the easy Tofu Chocolate Mousse and move on to Flourless Brownie, various flavour of muffins, Tofu Cheesecake and latest baked was a Chilled Yakult Yogurt Cake. I made amendments to the recipe and tried out on healthier ingredients such as palm sugar, olive oil, yogurt so as to allow supreme enjoyment without much guilt, I won't say it was guilt-free though.
As I move on, starting going for baking classes, trying out more recipes from websites and books, I knew I had to learn from scratch by baking basic stuff and follow the recipe exactly, so I can't really go on a healthier choice now. I hope as I grow, I can make variations and create yummy healthy bites for my loved ones. But of course, there should be times for indulgent as well, shouldn't we?
